Third annual OBB
Passionate and captivating Contra music drifting on soft ocean breezes awaits you in Daytona Beach this year. Rocking traditional tunes while pushing musical boundaries, Ed Howe and John Coté, delighting dancers as Perpetual e-Motion are just one reason to make your travel plans for Florida for 2015.
Also hailing from New England, another high energy band to trip your Contrazone is the Agnostic Fiddle Insurgency, with their triple fiddles and lush harmonies. Callers for the weekend are Bob Isaacs, Kathy Anderson and Andy Shore. If not already, certainly to be added to your list of favorites during the weekend.
Orange Blossom Ball Contradance, a zesty, urban style dance weekend features friendly, excellent, lively, extraordinary, enthusiastic calling, plus spectacular musicians. Half of the dance sessions will feature "dual callers" with a male/female voice alternating to enhance the dancer's experience. We have daily no-walk-through dance medleys, several waltz sessions, English dance session with Randy Thorpe & Mystery Band, yoga, waltz and musician workshops. Gender balanced, we hope to expand to a 4-day dance weekend in the future. Having received excellent dancer reviews from our first two OBB dance weekends (2013 & 2014), we expect OBB 2015 to continue that tradition. Sign up today!
This year's ball will be located at the Gold Star Ballroom (3100 S. Ridgewood Ave. in South Daytona, FL). The ballroom is a one year old custom built room with a sprung dance floor. Participants will be staying at the beautiful beachside Oceanside Inn, which has a pool and includes breakfast. Oceanside Inn accommodations will be available at a special group rate, while available.
Housing requests other than Oceanside Inn can be directed to Suanne Kimmel.
